Character Accounts
Each character should have it's own Profile/Account. It helps to keep everything separate and organized. The new Proboards has a main, global account for people (based off of your Email address), and it makes it easier to track everything. We allow newer character's accounts to wait up to a week after the acceptance of their character's actual profiles, however. Camilos does not currently allow roleplayers to keep everything neat and organized underneath one account.
Maintain desirable activity with Roleplaying Accounts. Character accounts should log in no less than once monthly for desirable activity levels. Any accounts that collect dust around Camilos will be removed, to free up space and to maintain a closer-to-true level of "active members" within the roleplaying community upon the site. They are also required to adhere to any ongoing activity checks, by ensuring they fit the minimum requirements of activity and posting in the checks as often as they appear. Members are allowed to revive removed accounts, however, if they wish to bring a character "back" that was once removed.
Characters are animal/human crosses. It's a unique feature of the site. Regular, mundane animals are allowed on the site as well, but aren't given the same liberties as a cross. Simply put, characters are a hybrid between humans and an animal or two (maximum of three different animals), giving them human characteristics that make them more unique than either animal or human. They can be bipedal or quadrupedal; they can look any percentage of animal you'd like, but they cannot be purely human in nature.
No characters have powers. It, also, makes things a little easier in the long run. All characters are entirely mundane, save for the fact that they are allowed to inherit the attributes of the animal(s) they are combined with. Tey cannot have any other magical powers, grow or shrink in size as they please, shift through walls - ect. Characters, also, do not shift between a human appearance and an animal one.
Concept Creation
Keep all images as your own. Characters should be your own unique work of art, from start to finish. You are allowed to use images others drew of your character on the site, but you are not allowed to use another person's character as your own. This is stealing and is highly frowned upon. If another member, or if someone off the site has given or sold you the character - or otherwise given you permissions to use it's image and likeness - then you are allowed to use it's images for your character.
Roleplay at least two paragraphs in a post. It helps us to maintain a certain "quality" to the roleplay posts, without us becoming overly concerned with quantity. We want you to at least offer "something" to the other player, so that they have something to work off of for their replies to you. We count a paragraph as having at least four complete sentences, and count two paragraphs per post as a roleplay post having at least eight sentences altogether. Roughly, we'd prefer this to have around 100 words to it, but we don't hold work count requirements at all.
Keep ALL roleplay threads Kid Friendly. We allow teenagers on this site, as well as adults. This is because Poboards allows such things, and we honor their requirements before our own. That being said, you shouldn't post any roleplay posts that contain sex, explicit sexual acts, or extremely gory actions within your threads. Fade to black instead. We also request that you keep cussing in-character to a minimum if possible, by limiting it to expressed thoughts or spoken words at best.
Claiming Land
Unclaimed land requires a "claim thread". The character can recruit their own backup when they strive to claim a section of land (that allows it), or they can go it along. Land claiming threads are given a grace period of three days, where challengers must post their own Land claimable threads in order to find for the land they are seeking to own. THEY SHOULD NOT REPLY TO ANOTHER'S CLAIM - a main thread will be posted. After three days of the first challenger's arrival, all other claims will be voided off and groups will be pitted in fights against each other (two on two). The victor of each fight progresses to the next fight, until there is a winner.
Claimed land requires a challenge. If all the claimable lands have been taken, then you must challenge someone for their own land. They can either have their "minions" fight you off for their land, or they can fight you themselves. However, the only way you can claim the land is by facing the Leader himself (or a delegated replacement "fighter") and winning the fight. If they require UP TO three rounds of opponents, you or your group must face each enemy at a time. You can challenge once every three months at best, no matter what character you're using to challenge with.
Kingdoms are given two month grace period between challenges. If a Kingdom or tribe was previously challenged, they will be granted a grace period. During this time, no other members may come in and challenge them for their land. They are allowed to focus their time on repairs to their Kingdom, or on settling in if they have just successfully won a challenge for that land - and challengers must wait until the Grace Period is removed before they are allowed to challenge the Kingdom.
Fighting Rules
No God-moding or Power-Playing. Simply put, you cannot control another person's character, unless they give you permission. This means that you do not state what they are thinking or doing at any point in time, and that you can only state what your character does or says, or reflect off of actions the other person has already stated their characters to "do", "think", or "say". You also cannot state whether or not your attacks hit another character - they need to be given a chance to fight back (or to dodge your blows). Attempt your blows, and you should be just fine.
Keep to a one dodge, three strikes rule. No one's having fun if you're always striking an opponent, or if you're always dodging someone else's attacks. Be fair, and let a few blows hit (or miss) on the occasion. Simply put, you can only dodge every third strike. In unofficial threads, this isn't as enforced as long as members are having fun in the roleplays with each other, but they are a mandatory aspect of official fight threads such as challenges.
Challenge threads are allowed five posts per person. These threads are unique, and are judged on skill, more than they are judged on an actual (virtual) fight between the characters. Each participant of the fight is given five posts to fight with, with their first post being a simple introduction before the fight. They should focus on the skill of their writing - making sure they put enough details in it without drowning it, and double checking their spelling and grammar. After each fighter has made the total allotment of posts, it will be locked, and a Staff member will read over it and judge it based off of a Skill Sheet. This Sheet will be posted up, to explain why a certain character won the battle.
